OK, so these are a bunch of quick
reviews of movies I've seen this summer. I had fun watching them, and
here's what I think:
Just my luck
I didn't really expect anything when I watched this film with Lindsey
Lohan in it. I already watched parent trap with Lindsey, which I loved,
so I sort of thought this would be a catchy film. It was a great plot,
which was funny. But I thought the writing was a little cheesy, because
it wouldn't have been any better with different actors. Lindsey did a
good job of performing the part. It is definitely hard for an actor to
portray two different personalities in one film. This is a great film
for teenagers, showing that it doesn't matter how lucky you are. It matters
who you are.
A little romance
I enjoyed this film because I got to relate to the character that Diane
Lane performed. She was a pretty girl who wanted to have fun and she was
very smart. I also like it because the romance of it was so precise. I
am a 13 year old and I wish I could meet my first romance in Paris and
have a vacation in Paris in which we would boat on a gondola, while streaming
under the bridge of Sighs and kissing at sunset while the big clock is
ringing. It was such a sweet movie and I could relate to it a lot. The
scenery was perfect for the movie. The film started out in the most romantic
places in Paris and then it moved on into the streets of Venice. It's
a great film for a couple in there teens to watch. It was a sweet romantic
film.
Pleasantville
I really loved how the colors started to evolve on people in the film.
It was so weird seeing the different contrast of black and white with
colors. I felt so touched by it because I suddenly realized that when
the colored people evolved, it seemed like the 50s when the black people
and white people didn't really want to relate to each other. Welcome to
Pleasantville! Where everything is perfect and non violence! (Not anymore!)
It was a great film, it was rated PG-13 but it would be a better film
for a family to watch!
V for Vendetta
This film was a delight to watch. Not only did the actors perform amazingly,
but the special effects were outstanding. Natalie Portman had the most
powerful performance in the film. After I watched it, I was exasperated,
exhausted, I was full of tears. Nobody could've played the part as well
as Natalie did. She made a precise character and made great choices. Even
when she had to shave her beautiful hair! It was a great story, but it
seemed like the conservatives were the "bad guys," which wouldn't
be a delight to watch if you are a conservative. This film was rated R
because of the gore and violence. I don't think this film should be rated
R, because it isn't that bad of violence and gore, there's just really
good sword fighting and blood. But people shouldn't bring kids under the
age of 6 or 7.
Pride and Prejudice
I loved this film very much mostly because of the scenery. It was so lovely.
It supposedly showed the best parts of England. Also the costume designs
were amazing! I loved that century; and they even gave it a little "umph".
Keira Knightly got nominated for best actress in this film. I would have
screamed if she wasn't nominated because her performance definitely earned
it. She performed a totally different character then all her other films.
And that is what people are looking for. I did read just about 100 pages
of the book until I thought it was so boring. But when I saw the movie,
I thought to myself, why didn't I like the book? The plot is excellent!
So I'm giving it an extra chance. This movie was an excellent romantic
film, and I encourage a lot of people watching it!
She's the man
She's the man was a great movie. It had the exact same plot to the play
The Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. There were very funny moments,
and there were not quite funny moments during the film. Actually, some
were very "whoa!" you didn't have to put the scene in there!
Like right when everybody finds out that Sebastian is really Sebastian
and Viola is really Viola. They didn't have to make it really disgusting.
But I loved Amanda Bynds acting. It was what I expected with her, funny
and hysterical. Over all, the film was great. You see a lot of fluent
acting around her and also all the other characters. This is a film for
teenagers, to find out about the opposite sex.
The Family Stone
This was a great film. Firstly, because my favorite actress is Rachel
McAdams, who was in this. Secondly, the chemistry of one another was excellent
because they were all supposed to be a family and it definitely seemed
like it. Thirdly, watching Diane Keaton, and Sarah Jessica Parker playing
two opposite roles together, is just fascinating. Fourthly, I loved when
they added the sign language, because most families who have a deaf son,
they don't even know it. Some people didn't like the film, some people
did. I am one of the people that did. But there were some reasons why
it seemed strange, so let's get one thing straight. Having annoying tics
doesn't make someone a bad person. Right? Being uptight doesn't make someone
a bad person. Also, it bugged me how they made Sarah Jessica Parker as
the mean witch when she said, "You don't really want to have a gay
son, do you?" But this is a great film for nice families on Christmas
Eve!
The Lake House
This was a good film. It had great actors, but little chemistry. My question
is for the day, how do you hold on to someone you've never met? It doesn't
make sense! Is it love at first imagination? It was a moving and a touching
movie and also a very twisty plot. But it didn't CATCH me as much as The
Notebook did. (Another romantic movie) I do love romantic movies, but
it was very confusing in some parts. This film is for people who like
science-fiction and romance. It rated PG-13.
Rumor has it
This film was a hysterical movie! It was based on a true story rumor and
the book The Graduate. Shirley McClain was fabulous, Mark Ruffalo was
superb, and Jennifer Anniston was better than ever! Firstly, Shirley is
a fantastic actor. She demonstrates the goodness and the badness of a
grandma who cares. Mark Ruffalo was a sweet, best boyfriend anyone could
have and Jennifer Aniston had great small affects, which we knew she was
totally in the character. You should watch this just to see the chemistry.
No other actors could have done better because they would not collaborate
like they did. Everyone should watch this
Girl, Interrupted
I really loved this film for two reasons, I got to relate with all the
characters that tried to tell Lisa how ignorant and mean she is, but you
can't because she is so powerful. She wants to be the leader and nobody
is striking her down because they're afraid. Secondly, this was an emotional,
intense movie that showed everybody how people are really like this. I
loved Winona Riders and Angelina Jolie's acting. Winona's acting was very
simple and just showed you how she felt through her eyes. Angelina's acting
was extremely confident and didn't mind anyone. Both of these actors made
chemistry and passion throughout this film. I recommend this film who
wants to see how intense the world can be. Rated R.
Elizabethtown
This movie had funny comments and also bad comments by some critiques.
Although I am in between, because yes, there were VERY boring parts. I
thought that the whole plot was horrendous! There was really no plot!
So it kept on going forever and ever and you didn't know when it was going
to end. But there were also awesome accessories, for instance, the actors.
They all were great, natural and talented. And anyone should watch this
just because of the acting. This film is rated PG-13.
Casanova
I didn't expect so much of this wonderful movie. I just really thought
it was going to be all about sex. But it was fabulous. I loved how the
actors actually talked the way they used to back then. The plot was very
twisty and romantic. Heith Ledger performed an amazing character which
really made the movie very exciting. I have no bad thoughts about this
movie, because I thought it was delightful! This film is rated R. I don't
know why its rated R .
Prime
I really enjoyed every little bit of this film, mostly because of the
amazing actors. Meryl Streep was absolutely fabuloushis! She made me laugh
every time she was on screen. Also, Uma Thurman was just the part. Every
single emotion that the character had to portray, Uma did it correctly
all through the movie. The thing that bugged me was the ending. Of course
it is real, its not happy ever after like Hollywood fake movies but I
wanted a little more happiness in the end. It was really sad. This film
was rated PG-13 but I would say it should be rated R because of the sex
scenes.
Monster House
This was the best summer movie I have seen. It was a creepy, funny and
enjoying movie that I could watch over and over. After I saw the movie,
I had creepy nightmares and I'm 13! Chowder was my favorite character
because of his hilarious image and he was great to watch. The animation
didn't have the best quality. It might have been a low budget film
But then I got used to it and it was fine. This film was rated PG. It's
a great film to see for kids 5-10 years of age. ( I had 6 kids watching
it, and laughing at it behind my seat.)
The Hotchick
This movie was the most horrible movie I've ever seen! Firstly, Its supposed
to be a crude, funny movie but the truth is, is that it isn't any better
than The Movie Date movie which was really bad too. Secondly, the acting
is ok, people who love "funny, slapstick" movies would like
it, but its mostly because of the script. It just didn't really take the
umph into anything. This film is rated PG-13.
Breaking away
This film was a funny 70's movie that you should watch on a rainy day.
Its almost a classic. Dennis Quade was great; he had a personality that
intrigued the audience. The 3 other guys were very good. I also liked
the little romance in the movie. The thing that I didn't like about it
was the script. It was confusing, in the begging of the movie, I thought
that all four of the guys were bike riders. Not until the end I found
out only one of them was a biker. This film is rated ?
Must Love Dogs
This film was a twisty, funny plot that caught my attention when I saw
the trailer. But I was a little disappointed in some parts. In parts of
the movie, there was some boring scenes, I felt like fast forwarding it
because it felt to long. But Diane Lane was GREAT! She was so natural
and perfect for the part. John Cusak was fantastic! He is hilarious and
has funny mouth movements while performing. This film is rated PG-13.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith
This film is a must see film! Its a thriller and an amusing movie with
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. I felt somewhat sad for Jennifer Aniston
because Angelina and Brad had the best chemistry I've seen for a long
time. Some parts were a little stupid and over acting but in the end,
when Brad and Angelina are talking to a psychiatrist, I loved when he
said, "To 1-10 how is your sex life?" How put 10 fingers out
and whispered, "Ten." This film is rated PG-13.
